Dermal Fillers: Polylactic Acid
Here’s how it works
One of the unique synthetic dermal fillers is polylactic acid, which stimulates your own body to produce collagen. What is most unique about this dermal filler is that the results are revealed gradually, usually over a period of several months.
It’s been used for more than 40 years as a suture material, and has been shown to produce excellent results in the lower half of the face, filling in laugh lines, adding fullness to lips and smoothing out nasolabial folds. It could take up to six weeks to see the effect of each injection. Polylactic acid is considered a semi-permanent dermal filler, and may require future touch ups.
Currently, the only FDA approved brand is Sculptra Aesthetic.
The costs involved in this procedure include facility fees, medical tests, cost of the PMMA filer, Dr. Jimerson’s fee and any medication or any additional treatment that may be required. Our staff will provide you with a detailed cost estimate for your procedure.
